Entertainment Project: Character

This was my second task in the Entertainment Project in which I was to create the character and armor. I traced over a rough human body and then added on the armor trying to follow and make it 3D to give it some extra detail on what I was trying to accomplish.
Due to me struggling to create the human body, I was given the base model from a team member who had already completed a base male model which would act as the NPCs which I then covered with the armor.
This is the process on how I started from basic shapes to create the armor for the main character in the game. It took me a few attempts as sometimes parts of the model would glitch or create Ngons which would cause problems later on when it comes to the UV process.
Completed armor modeled and given a basic dark grey blinn material.

Once each piece of armor had been UV'd I then exported them and imported into Substance painter where I created my own material in which I could easily drag it onto each armor piece so that there was some uniform metallic texture rather than mis-shapen colours.
I added a little bit of mud to the boots to show that it is reacting with the environment as you explore the game.
The character would be animated to move and attack which meant that the armor needed to follow the body rather than staying static. I was asked to change the weighting of each armor piece to make sure that specific parts needed to move or to stay static.
