Stella Maris "Star of the Sea"
This oversized portrait (5x4 ft) was first a drawing on Procreate before being translated three dimensionally to a wood sculpture. As Stella Maris means “Star of the Sea,” this work emotionally conveys the devastating impact humans have had on our oceans.
Crafted in the university's wood-shop for my sculpture class, the work was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from students and teachers. Upon their request, it was displayed in the front gallery of the School of Art and Art History building until the end of the spring term and into the summer.
