The Modern Day Monument || Multi-Program Architectural Project
Re-thinking the Modern day Monument

In the past, the Monument fulfilled the need to create buildings symbolising power through impressive constructions. The question tackled here is, “What sort of a significant and critical relationship can architecture aspire to be in a world that is no longer constituted by the idea of the city, but is instead dominated by urbanisation and capitalism.

Kharghar, in Navi Mumbai home to the faceless architecture of today is chosen as the site, a new developing business hub. It is thriving with youth and ambition but needs a direction.

The culmination of the project is a building extremely public and non monumental in its gesture to invite the entire city. It does not need to stand out - it blends in and with its collaborative program of an amalgamation of Research, Innovation and Corporate facilities becomes monumental in its essence to understand the city and its motivations
