REFURBISHMENT STAIRCASE PROJECT - INTERIOR ARCHITECT DESIGNER and CONSTRUCTION MANAGER 05/2018
Academia Napoles SAS is a driving school were due to new regulations for educational purpose in Colombia, all the educational institutions must meet new parameters of its facilities. In this case the facility of the driving school was failing the measure of the staircase. The main aim of Napoles staircase project was to improve completely the existent staircase. The existent staircase wasn’t following the safety regulations for an education institution and at the same time it was narrow, small and full of darkness. The project consists to create and expand a new area of entrance and circulation of the driving academy, designing a spacious and luminous area satisfying the needs of the client and attracting new customers.
The first stage of the project consisted of a civil intervention demolishing the existence staircase, reinforce the structure and expand the area for the new metal staircase implementation. The second intervention was the assemblage of the metal staircase with the old structure following the regulation NTC 4145 – 4140.
The third stage was to reorganize the spaces in the remaining areas (offices, administration, reception desk, and classrooms). The implementation of new material and colors, the black and white as the main colors of the space stand out with a patterned ceramic on the floor, black staircase, and white walls giving a new environment and character to Napoles Driving academy.
