Fast Saigon
When I first arrived in Ho Chi Minh city, I knew that I would find myself in front of countless motorbikes, but the old Saigon astonished me anyway.
Lined up at the traffic lights, waiting for the green to go, the hundreds of pilots watch the flickering reverberation of heat rise from the scorching asphalt, eager to give voice to their crackling engines. As when the locks of a dam open, a massive buzzing swarm of scooters pours everywhere in the city.
By observing more carefully this shapeless flock, you can see the individual faces and understand how the scooter is rooted and important in the Vietnamese lifestyle: who goes to work, who goes to the market to shop, who takes the children to school and who transports bulky loads.
I therefore decided to take moving portraits of these indefatigable riders.
