This necklace is a play on the word “souvenir”, which in French can mean both “keepsake” and “memory”, both material and immaterial.
The stone has been carved by time and found on a day worth remembering. I used the lost wax technique, brass has been cast to fit in the stone mold perfectly.
When both elements are worn together, they symbolize the material keepsake, the physical object recollecting the past. When separated, they each create a negative space – around or within them – describing immaterial memory.
