Background
Malapata is a Mexican pop band born in 2014 in Mexico City, all of them as students from the same college class and enthusiasts in music. Their gos was to tell stories that could happen to anyone, funny or sad, even the most disgraceful anecdote, they all deserve to be told. The former six-piece band toured two nationwide tours with 2 EP's and 1 LP, among various singles and videos.
Conception
Malapata as a brand was conceived around the name, created spontaneously while joking. The brand voice, values and personality were created aiming to "tell stories that could happen to anyone", to young and unexperienced people who are beginning to live the world. ​​​​​​​
The Logo and "The Crutch"
The crutch is the core of every logo and identity usage, representing, in one hand, the stories of a not-so-lucky bunch of youngsters and, in the other, the genesis story behind the band, where two of the founder members played the first gig using them.​​​​​​​
Communication System
Communication elements were designed using an atomic approach, allowing the band to have an open canvas to create particles and complete pieces for ads, social media and print.
Identity Application
To apply the system, we mainly focused on two areas: Merchandising, to brand souvenirs and retail points during tours, and Stationery, focusing on PR and press documentation, and sales and logistics paperwork.
