From March to May 2018, the selected authors writing in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin languages spent a month in Kvarner – each author in their separate location – discovering the attractions of the area. Each of these authors was given the task to write a short story relating to the location in which they stayed. The programme selector was the writer Željka Horvat Čeč (HR), and the authors were selected with the syntagm the port of diversity in mind, which represents Rijeka 2020 – the European Capital of Culture.
The Authors' Boras (Autorske bure) collection of short stories features sixteen stories published by Rijeka 2020 and V.B.Z., designed by Studio Sonda and edited by Kruno Lokotar (HR).

The bora is a dry northern to north-eastern katabatic wind in the Adriatic Sea which blows in gusts and most common is during the winter. Short, high waves with white crests are its characteristics, making the navigation difficult. The small drops formed by the wind create a so-called "sea smoke" that reduces the visibility significantly.

The design of Authors’ Boras seeks to evoke the emotional and physical experience of Bora. The text is printed on tracing paper in such a way that the letters overlap and irresistibly resemble watery dust caused by the Bora at sea.
