A RE-DESIGN OF A ROUNDABOUT with a lightning strategy

WHY
The Idea was to challenge the trend where a lot public spaces, especially old industrial quarters are being made into social spaces with the main focus on consumption and the main things like infrastructure and industrial jobs, that actually creates a sense of everyday life are being banished to the suburbs. Why not try to make a modern, safe and accommodating public space where trucks, cars, bicycles and pedestrians actually agree fully apart.

WHAT
This project is a re-programming and re-design of Sankt Kjelds Plads in Copenhagen. The project is an inspiration and a proposal for an ongoing urban renewal.
The site is today a roundabout and a traffic hub for the entire district, and there are currently no places to stay and the safety of specially the pedestrians and the cyclists is low.

This project is working to create a better passage for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians and create a higher general level of safety.

The project contains ideas and proposals for a lightning strategy fokusing on safty and identety, a series of custom designed fixtures, a series of urban furniture, a planting strategy and a strategy for surfaces and materials on site.
