Interior Design Project - The Tree House

The Tree House
Working with this client for a second time I fell in love with the location of her new home. Nestled on the top of a hill on one of the few cobbled brick streets in the city. It was surrounded by trees and there were porches or decks off of four rooms. My client's favorite colour was aqua and we wanted to use what we had done in her last home, which was a two bedroom upper unit of a two-plex she owned. Moving to a two story four bedroom was a big move and I wanted to have the colour palette she loved and design scheme that married her modern tastes and the traditional bones of the house. I introduced the natural colours of the greens of the leaves that surrounded the house, the turquoises and the teals pulling them together with a grasscloth in the dining room and a warm gold in the hall.

A great choice for her daughters room a grape colour
One of my favorite colours from PPG is a complex shade called Coffee Custard
Hall colours are an all important colour as they have to work with every colour that comes off them. I call them transfer colours. There is where you want to have a neutral that has personality.
The drapes are made from a beautiful woven silk in chocolate brown and the nettle green. The lampshades were also custom made and I spend a day doing all the accesories.
Detail of the decoupaged armoire
The floors were sanded and I choose a warm medium brown for the new stain, avoiding hints of red yellow or orange
