Concept design for the fictional game, “Wicked Queens”. Utilizing the iconic heart used by Disney’s Snow White villain, The Wicked Queen, along with the dark thorn bush behind it, the image is strikingly bold. Mixing styles used throughout the generation of Disney titles, the idea was to bridge the gap between generations, giving a familiarity to both young and older.
The bold colors and use of negative space creates a focal point for the viewer that creates natural flow to the text and information on the bottom of the page.
By using a subtle glow behind the heart, along with shadowing and coloring of the thorns, I was able to effectively create a depth of field that represent the thickness and weight of the bush. Each vine was hand drawn in Illustrator to create the overlapping and organic mesh the piece shows. I then imported the vectors into Photoshop, to create the lighting, shadowing, and texturing of the lines.
