A magnificent pink chrysanthemum has burst into flower, its petals a soft, spreading cushion centred with golden stamens. The painting was set during the magical Blue Hour, just after the sun has set, but before it gets dark, lending the image a peaceful blue backdrop fading here and there to violet.
